Nightm-AirStrips

Top Women have funny family stories to share amongst ourselves of relatives landing their airplanes in interesting and challenging places, but none can compare to these runways. These are runways to test the hardiest brakes and strongest reverse thrusts!

And since flying isn't our favorite past-time, we'll save the breathtaking, daredevil test flying for Top Men.

Starling Fascination

This video of the flocking behavior of thousands of starlings is an amazing sight. It reminds Top Men just how strangely similar organisms and communities can be.

Here is the original video from the Westmorland Gazette.

Vehicular Pinball

Top Women learned how to drive in the deep snows of the north and midwest as kids, so nothing stops us from getting in our cars and getting to our destinations except ICE!

And this is why! Kinda reminds us of recurring nightmares we share.

Run Asimo Run!

Honda thinks it's pretty cool that their new robot, Asimo, can run and climb stairs. So they put on a show to display his recently learned talents.

When Top Women saw these videos, we kinda got the feeling that we were at Sea World watching a Shamu Show. So we're wondering when Asimo will be able to swim and splash the crowd with his big Asimo wave.

Personally Top Women think Asimo is worked too hard and not given enough treats because clearly he's overworked at times.

Non-Newtonian Corn Starch

Consider this an update in our ever expanding coverage of corn. A couple more videos from the amazing world of cornstarch. Top Men are seriously considering an experiment of our own to put these to shame, but for now they'll have to do.

This first video is cornstarch on a sub-woofer.

This second video sounds like the cornstarch is on a jackhammer. The interesting part of this one is where the cornstarch starts to crawl up the guys hand - to find it's way into his ear - to attach itself to his brain - to take over the world.

(Uh... ahem... thanks Top Women. At least our love of corn is one thing we have in common.)

Sand Sculpting

Since 2007 is supposed to be another warm year according to climatologists' rumors at the lab, Top Women think this is the year to break out the big sand buckets and shovels for some serious beach sand sculpting. We wonder if we can sculpt anything as good as this though.

Sulfur Hexaflouride

What gas is colorless, odorless, non-toxic, non-flammable, and if you fill a balloon with it, it'll drop like a rock? Since the title of this post is Sulfur Hexaflouride you probably got the answer right.

This stuff is like anti-helium. Even in that if you breath it in and talk, your voice gets substantially lower! But the most amazing thing you can do with Sulfur Hexaflouride is float stuff in it. Check this video!

Top Men want a tank of this stuff to play with.

UPDATE (1/16): Here is a "lower your voice" movie.

(Thanks Tinselman)

Trompe l'oeil

It's hard to pull the wool over the eyes of Top Women, but we're feeling pretty convinced at some of this amazing artistry!

For those of you who are fooled, just be careful where you decide to walk.

Extreme New Year's Resolution

The folks at Xrez take their high-resolution seriously. Like billions of pixels seriously. They've managed to make use of Google Map technology to allow viewing their extreme resolution images. Top Men encourage you to at least explore the few below that we think are standouts.

Honolulu
Oahu
Lake Tahoe
Boston
Yosemite

Those of you who live above the teeming masses should explore this gallery page of theirs. It's a combination of extreme-res, timelapse, QTVR, and just standard images - all from some rather amazing locations or vantage points.

For the hard-core Wohba-ers, you can see how they capture such extreme resolution with this short movie.

(Thanks Tom B. - belatedly)
