Wohba Rider!

Will the holiday goodies never end? Top Women found the above Wohba Rider movie present from Top Men at the very bottom of our stocking. We happen to be big Line Rider fans so we thought that was a nice gesture.

We've had hours of fun trying to design our own Line Rider and watching their best and thought maybe the teeming masses might too.

Check out their new beta here.

TOP MEN NOTE: Top Men were simply feeling gracious because of the season. We're sure it won't last long.

Cloud Cornucopia

There are quite a few cloud photos floating around (pun intended), but this site has the most that Top Men have ever seen. There are over 200 images on the page.

Normally Top Men would cull through the plethora of images and point you to the most amazing. But in this particular case - the plethora is the point.

Stupend-ISS

Top Men try not to flood you with ISS & shuttle photos. But this photo from the current mission is worth a download.

Easy to see the work that remains. The next two missions will make things more symetrical - filling out the truss on the right side and adding a solar array to mirror the left side.

For a visual illustration of the assembly check the previous link below.

Fruit Lapse

Top Men have watched good fruit go bad in the kitchen of our way-hip crib. But we've never seen it happen as fast as the fruit in these time-lapse movies.

And just because we thought they were way-hip, we've included an ant farm and balloon festival time-lapse, too.

Peace, out.

Major Scale

Sometimes it's hard to size things up and place them in the dimension of space without a visual scale.

In this amazing video, our sun and planets are compared in size to stars throughout the universe.

Top Women think we've got pretty large egos.

Big Flakes

It's winter. Time to be amazed by things like snow. So here is some snow, magnified to extreme levels so that you can be amazed by it.

(And since we're approaching the Christmas holiday, Top Men would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the now famous Wohbawhite Scale. Nothing like metrics to make the season bright.)

Cliff Hangers

Top Women love adventure. Have we mentioned that yet? Top Women are also fearless and love hiking and travelling; just thought we'd let you know for future reference.

Finally, we'd like to find out if Top Men suffer from vertigo. So we thought someday we might challenge them to a hike in this Chinese national forest.

High Definition Shuttle Launch

Top men at NASA always have something new for us. How about STS-116's spectacular night launch (first night launch in four years) in high definition. They've provided three sizes so you can select your own wait.

- 480p (60 MB)
- 720p (141 MB)
- 1080i (222 MB)

(Note for Mac Users: These are WMV files. If you don't use Flip4Mac yet to view WMV files - you should.)

UPDATE (12/18): QuickTime Format Now Available

NASA has added the following QuickTime formatted movies in addition to the WMV files above.

- 480p (65 MB)
- 720p (85 MB)
- 1080i (150 MB)

Slow Motion Golf Balls

Okay, so these movies are viral marketing from Nike. Top Men don't care. As long as it makes us say Wohba!

Solar Surfing

Scientists were able to record a visible shock wave (Moreton wave) that rolled across the sun two days ago. This amazing movie shows the wave (triggered by a solar flare) propagating across the solar surface and actually collapsing or compressing dark filaments located on opposite sides of the solar hemisphere.

Here is a GIF movie of just the blast wave area.

Top Men are back on top of the solar game!

Fancy Folding

Paper folding. Hmmm.

Amazing. Incredible. Earth shattering. (Okay, maybe not. Would you believe interesting.)

Watch.

Top Men did it. How did the teeming masses do?

HiRISE Channel Surfing

Well the Martian floodgates have opened, and amazing images from the PSP (Primary Science Phase) of the HiRISE instrument on the MRO are pouring in. Rather than show them all, Top Men will occasionally provide amazing or curious samples of the best. In this case we have picked a rather curious one.

- In this image, from high above, the terrain simply appears as large dunes.
- But as we zoom in, this image shows some rather interesting channels.
- And this full-res image shows some full-fledged Wohba-worthy curiousness.

Hardcore explorers can download the entire full-res image here (ALERT: 127 MB - JPEG 2000)

See Spot Change

This high resolution movie (8.9 Mb) shows the evolution of a sunspot seen in a longitudinal magnetogram and a Ca II H filtergram. Whatever, Top Women just think it's amazing!

If you like that, here are some more Hinode (solar-B) movies to burn your mind but not your retinas:

The Active Sun
Co-aligned Coronal Loops

UPDATE (12/06): Top Men would like to take this opportunity to informally protest this post. Top Women have clearly encroached into what historically has been Top Men's solar territory. And besides, we were going to get to this.

It's a Beauty

Sometimes it seems that all our efforts and labors can be distilled into one goal, beauty. At least that's the way Top Women see it.

From YouTube: "My best friend's short film, made when we were
studying Computer Animation at Bournemouth University. All of the
artistic effects were created with programs written by the boy
himself, and as a piece of art, it remains one of the best animated
shorts I have seen." - Kevan Shorey
